Characteristics

Color: Heartwood - yellowish-white to pale brown, sometimes with a pinkish tint.

Pattern: Lustrous but fairly plain in appearance and fine and even in texture; ususally straight grained but occasionally a wavy grain.

The siliceous content, though very small, is enough to make it abrastive to cutting tools; generally has a fine uniform texture.
